Soccer hits the road to Sioux Falls, then travel home

The women Mavericks soccer team enters the week ranked two spots higher in the most recent United Soccer Coaches poll.

Minnesota State who was 23rd previously in the polls, have moved up to 21st after having two successful wins against MSU Moorhead (3-0) and Northern State(1-0) last weekend.

This weekend, the Mavericks play in their final games of the regular season. The Mavericks face Augustana at 3 p.m. on Friday in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 

Minnesota State will then travel back home for senior day against Wayne State on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Mavericks are seeded 3rd in the most recent USC Regional polls for the central region, while Augustana is seeded 7th.

Augustana’s current standings are 10-3-3 while the Mavericks are 13-2-1. 

Wayne State has an overall standing of 4-10-1 this season and are ranked 11th in the NSIC.

Bemidji State is still the highest ranked team in the NSIC, seeded 8th in the nation according to the USC Top 25 poll with a 15-0-1 record thus far.

As the Mavericks head into the final games of their regular season, many individuals stand out as some of the best players to come through the Minnesota State women’s soccer program.

Senior Abby Hausken ranks 5th in Minnesota States all-time minutes played with 5,911 minutes, while senior Maddy Burandt comes in 8th with 5,576 minutes.

Junior goalkeeper Alexa Rabune who has 14 total shutouts is 3rd place for all-time rankings at Minnesota State. She also comes in 6th with 18 all-time wins and 9th with 101 all-time saves.

Senior Morgan Cottew jumps to 5th in the all-time rankings in goals at Minnesota State after scoring against MSU Moorhead this past weekend. She totals 37 goals, and is also ranked game-winning goals(6th), points (6th) and assists (8th).

The Mavericks look to carry their all-time successes with them to their final regular season games.
