Global Entrepreneurship celebration next week

The Minnesota State University, Mankato, College of Business, Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship invites all students, faculty, staff and the entire Mankato community to an international celebration of entrepreneurship. The 2018 Global Entrepreneurship Week will run from Nov. 12-18.According to the Global Entrepreneurship Network, for one week every November, thousands of events and competitions in over 100 countries inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity.
The Global Entrepreneurship Week is meant to act as a catalyst connecting entrepreneurs to potential collaborators, mentors and investors. Yvonne Cariveau, Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and main coordinator of the GEW at MNSU states that the week is a commemoration of entrepreneurs.
All events are free and will be held at the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, 424 N. Riverfront Drive. “Here in Mankato we have not had a large entrepreneurship week, in the past the University has celebrated the GEW for at least four years with the primary focus being students,” Cariveau said.
“With this year’s celebration in an effort to tie together the ecosystem of entrepreneurship all around the Mankato area, which is one of the purposes of the CIE, majority of the events during the GEW will be hosted in the CIE,” Cariveau added.
Several small businesses are working in collaboration with the CIE to out on the workshops during the GEW. The GEW offers a plethora of benefits for students who have a small business, intend to create a start-up or basically have a brilliant idea but need some insight on how to get it rolling.
Cariveau states that whether you have an invention or business idea for yourself or not, don’t miss these opportunities to learn and network. “A vibrant start up community helps realize individual promise and spurs the economy,”Cariveau said.
