Minnesota State University, Mankato has had a long tradition of welcoming students who serve and have served their country since its inception. In honor of those students among us who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces, the Veterans Resource Center is hosting Veterans Week.

Each day of Veterans Week, the members of the Veterans Club will do 22 pushups near the fountain at the campus mall. Everyone from the campus community is welcome to join. The goal of the challenge is to raise awareness of the suicide rates among veterans, which are far higher than the national average due to the unique traumas and difficulties faced by those who have served.

Tuesday will feature a Celebration Lunch and an Installation of Officers, to take place from 11 a.m-1 p.m. at the Veterans Resource Center. On Wednesday, there will be a highway cleanup event as well as a picnic with the Non-Traditional Students Center, both of which will begin at 4 p.m.

On Thursday, the Veteran Olympics will take place throughout the day, wherein veteran students will compete in various athletic activities. Finally, on Friday, there we be a session of Equestrian Therapy, to take place between 4-8 p.m.

Please join the University community in recognizing our student veterans and the Veterans Resource Center. We are proud to honor them for their contributions to their country and to campus.
