Swim and dive defeats Augustana

The Minnesota State Mavericks swim and dive team celebrated senior night in their last home meet of the season Thursday night. 

It was a successful meet, and the Mavericks defeated the Augustana Vikings 166-122 – winning 11 events. The Mavericks are now 5-0 this season in dual meets.

MSU finished first in both the 200 freestyle and the 200 medley relay. Sophomores Anja Enervold, Emily Goodman, Katie Streiff and senior Maggie Knier finished with a time of 1:47.57. The group of Knier, sophomore Nikki Ault, Enervold and junior Emelia Selky posted a time of 1:40.58 in the 200 freestyle.

Knier won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.46 and Enervold finished first in the 100 backstroke, posting a time of 59.82. Junior Tori Roth won the 50 backstroke with a time of 28.06.

Knier, on senior night, said, “It’s crazy to think that after four years this will be the last time I compete at home.”

Streiff won three individual events in the 50 and 100 butterfly and 200 IM. Goodman found herself winning the 100 and 200 breaststroke as well.

Freshman Ayla Taylor and senior Jaycie Klein finished in the top two in the 3-meter diving event. Taylor posted a score of 232.40 and Klein finished with 220.75.

The Mavericks will have a lengthy break before participating in the three-day Rochester Invite starting on Dec. 6.
