Sen. Joe Biden continued Barack Obama's campaign for Missouri's closely-contested votes in Thursday morning.
Around 750 northwest Missouri residents migrated to Missouri Western State University's Looney Center for Biden's two-day Missouri tour's kick-off. Biden began his tour carrying national poll numbers that have shown a widening Obama lead over Republican candidate John McCain in the presidential race's final month.

She sat among pool cues and boxes of Bud Light and waited. It was 8:45 p.m., and she'd been there since 5 p.m. Soon she would put on her earrings, choker, and sparkly red and black dress, and walk onto the stage.

UI Professor Michael Lewis-Beck, a friend of recently terminated UI General Counsel Marcus Mills, has started a petition to reinstate the former administrator. As of late Tuesday night, the petition had upwards of 70 signatures from professors, secretaries, physicians, and lawyers, Lewis-Beck said.
The UI political-science professor said the appeal garners 20 to 30 signatures per day, and interest hasn't peaked yet.
