"Student fees are on the docket for the semester," said Minnesota State Student Association President Chris Frederick.
While last semester the faces of Frederick and Vice President Casey Carmody were plastered all over campus on posters dealing with MavLife 101, this semester their mugs will be used for a different purpose.
The new "What's it Worth" campaign is all about the use of student fees. Specifically, the campaign will show the amount of revenue from student fees that each organization is allocated.
The new posters, designed by Joe Orchard, give this information in a creative way by featuring checks written out to various student groups and services - ranging from Student Leadership Development to Non-Traditional Students to Health Services - in the amount paid by student fees.
"It's all about full disclosure," Frederick said.
The idea behind the campaign is, as always, to increase awareness among students about the issue at hand.
Frederick explained that as part of the budget process every spring, different departments put forward their budget requests for next year by mid-March.
Next, the Student Allocations Committee (SAC) goes through the request and then sends their recommendations to the budget hearing, which will be held April 16.
The senate then makes final recommendations which they forward to President Davenport for approval.
Due to the time element and deadlines involved, it is important for students to raise their concerns before April 16, preferably as soon as possible.
Frederick stressed that the amounts written on the checks are derived only from student fees, meaning the amount listed is not the total revenue each group or service is granted or generates themselves.
Any student concerns can be brought to the student senate, located in CSU 280 or e-mail to Frederick at christopher.frederick@mnsu.edu.
As these 20 checks come overdraft and fee free, there's no reason for them to bounce anytime soon.

Hail Comrades! I am pleased to see that LGHT, ethics, and the woman's center are well-founded. We must maintain our separtist environment in all of our universities! We must also continue our class warfare at the expense of gullable students! Race, class, and gender are all that matter!

Is there a poster telling everyone how much the repetitive poster campaigns cost?
