Atlanta-born comedian Louis Ramey will stop by Minnesota State University at 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom to entertain students and make them laugh.

Ramey lives to make people laugh. Most recently, he was voted "2007 Comic of the Year" by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities. Being a member of the National Association for Campus Activities, Ramey has performed at hundreds of campuses across the nation, including more than 120 schools in 2007.

If Ramey looks familiar, it's because he can be seen on TV Land Network as the host of Nickelodeon's "The Nick at Night Crew." You may have also seen him on one of his many appearances on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Last Call with Carson Daly," "The View" and Comedy Central's "Premium Blend," "USO Tour" and "World Comedy Tour."

Ramey has not only performed on television but has also opened for musicians such as Ray Charles, Whitney Houston and Smokey Robinson.

Ramey began his comedy career on a dare from his friends.

They dared him to take the stage at a local jazz club and tell a few jokes. He immediately became hooked from the adrenaline rush of the live performance and has been performing live ever since.

Ramey wanted to conquer stages worldwide and he successfully did so. He has performed at theaters, concert halls, comedy clubs, college comedy shows, resorts, cruises and casino show rooms.

Having traveled all over the world, doing comedy in places such as Canada, Hong Kong, Australia and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Ramey will find himself at the CSU Ballroom in an event sponsored by Impact. There is no charge to get into the event.
