WHO:Bemidji State Beavers (4-21-3, 1-19-2 WCHA)
at Minnesota State Mavericks (8-17-1, 7-14-1 WCHA)
WHEN:Friday - 7:07 p.m., Saturday - 3:07 p.m.
WHERE: All Seasons Arena - Mankato
PREVIEW: The Mavericks enter the weekend coming off one of their best series of the season, sweeping St. Cloud State last weekend in a home-and-home series. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak. Head coach Jeff Vizenor said the goal for this weekend will be to get past Ohio State. The Buckeyes lead the Mavericks by only two points in WCHA standings.
FORWARDS: Vizenor was satisfied with his three top lines last weekend. A few players have been switched in-and-out during the season, but the solid play of all three trios last weekend will keep the lines the same for this weekend. One of MSU's top lines -- Lindsay Macy-Maggie Fisher-Ashley Young -- totaled eight points last weekend. Fisher had a goal in each game and three points on the weekend. Forward Jenna Hewitt will be out again this weekend.
DEFENSE: The Mavericks' blue-liners had a solid weekend. Goaltender Britni Kehler gave up one gaol in each game, and she contributed a lot of her success to the defense for tying up sticks in front of the net and helping on rebounds. The Mavericks had a couple goals created by the defensemen in Saturday's game, with shots from the point from Holly Snyder and Andreanne Thibault that were deflected in front of the net for goals.
IN NET: Kehler had an outstanding weekend for the Mavericks, and was awarded WCHA Defensive Player of the Week for her 51 total saves and two goals allowed throughout the weekend. She recorded a .962 save percentage over the weekend, improving her season percentage of .899 to .904. Kehler will start for MSU Friday.
