I was recently reading over an article in The Reporter and all the extra money currently not being used for IT stuff. Here's my big problem. I'm a non-traditional student that lives off campus. I pay $125 a semester for laptop fees. That amounts to $1,000 since I've been here, and depending upon what year plan I'm on (the five or six year) it will be more. I have a suggestion how to help out the students at MSU. I live in downtown Mankato, which is only a 10 or 15 minute walk to school. I really think some of our IT money should go to getting every student in town free wireless internet. I mean we have to be registered to school to login to the MAVnet, why not get free wireless through out Mankato and North Mankato. Internet can cost students anywhere from $15-$50 a month. I know it would help me out if there was one less bill I had to pay. Just a idea to anyone that is listening!
