Fielder invited to Vikes rookie camp

Football
Two former Minnesota State football players were invited to NFL rookie camps Tuesday.
Tight end Jeff Fielder was invited to Minnesota Vikings rookie camp while longsnapper Ryan Pentimalli will work out with the Cleveland Browns.
Fielder caught 39 passes four 429 yards and four touchdowns in 22 games as a Maverick. He averaged 3.5 receptions and 38.7 yards per game with 11.2 yards per catch.
Fielder transferred from Bakersfield (Calif.).
Pentimalli was MSU's longsnapper the past two seasons after transferring from North Dakota State College of Science in 2006.
He played in every game for the Mavericks in his time at MSU and record three tackles on special teams.
NCC Player of the Week
The Minnesota State softball team's Abby Morris was named NCC Player of the Week Tuesday.
The Sophomore designated player batted 8-for-11 (.727) last week in four MSU wins. She drove in three runs on two doubles and a home run, scoring seven runs herself in the process. She also walked three times and stole four bases. Morris continues to set the school record for steals in a season as her count sits at 18.
Track and Field
Two Minnesota State track and field athletes picked up wins at the North Central Conference Multi Event Tuesday in Collegeville.
Junior Kaycie Merrihew won the women's Heptathalon with a 2,784-point total, 302 points ahead of her nearest competition.
Senior Nick Colvin, who won the indoor pentathalon in February, took first in the men's outdoor decathalon Tuesday with 3,457 points.
Denise Mokaya and Katelin Rains were named men's and women's NCC Track Athletes of the Week, respectively, Wednesday.
