The No. 16 Minnesota State soccer team continued to roll through its Northern Sun schedule with a 4-0 win over Southwest Minnesota State Friday at The Pitch at Gage Towers.

The Mavericks' win over SMSU was MSU's sixth straight victory. The team is unbeaten in its last nine games.

Laura Leber - MSU's leader in points and goals - opened the scoring with a goal in the 10th minute assisted by Marti Klinsing and Kristen Carpentier.

It was Leber's seventh goal of the season.

Carly Petersen made it 2-0 at 29:11 when she received a pass in the slot from Natalie Bullis. Petersen had enough time to settle the ball and sneak it under the crossbar. Jessie Audas also got credit with an assist.

Four minutes later, Jacque Ackerman found Petersen cutting in front of the net as Petersen put it past SMSU goalkeeper Courtney McCarthy for her fourth goal of the season.

Kelly Jauch scored her first goal in 2008 on Tayler Vestal's assist.

The Mavericks improve to 8-1-2 overall and stay undefeated in NSIC play at 6-0-1. They play at Augustana at noon Saturday in Sioux Falls, S.D.
