Best buffet: Pizza Ranch
Pizza Ranch nabs first place with great selection
Pizza Ranch at 1551 Tullamore St. in Mankato brings together some of the universe’s best foods: pizza, fried chicken, hot wings, potatoes and dessert.
For $9.09, you can eat Pizza Ranch’s glorious lunch buffet Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For $10.59, you can eat their dinner buffet Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. All buffet prices on the weekend are $10.59.
Students will receive a discounted buffet price on Sundays after 4 p.m. if they present their student ID.
These lunch and dinner buffet feature a plethora of delicious goodies. There are pizzas available and customers can request to have a custom pizza made at no additional cost. The restaurant has its own signature pizza styles such as the meaty Brono, Roundup, Texan, Trailblazer and Stampede. There’s something for the meat lovers, vegetarians and garbage pizza lovers.
Pizza Ranch has their own version of a secret blend fried chicken with spices and seasonings. The crispiness of this chicken will take you to another world and back again. Your teeth will be doing back flips when they bite into the crispy skin and your taste buds will be having a house party when the flavor hits them. If you want to switch it up from the traditional fried chicken, there are barbeque and buffalo options available as well.
You’ll have a new outlook on dessert pizza after trying Pizza Ranch’s. “Cactus bread” doesn’t taste like cactus at all. The base is a buttery crust, topped with a sweet cinnamon streusel and heavenly icing. This is a combination that’s sure to start some fireworks in your mouth. Another tasty treat is their apple dessert pizza, which is basically apple pie’s cooler big brother. All of these dessert pizzas go very well with Pizza Ranch’s soft serve vanilla ice cream.
During non-buffet hours, customers can order buffet items like pizza and fried chicken separately. This is the perfect option for takeout or if you’re only in the mood for one particular menu item. Customers can also take advantage of special “Ranch Packs” during these times. A pizza pack for $19.99 includes a large pizza, cheesy ranch sticks and cactus bread. A combo pack for $27.99 includes a medium pizza, crispy ranch chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and cactus bread. The chicken pack for $20.99 that includes eight pieces of chicken of chicken, six biscuits and mashed potatoes and gravy can feed any family, group of friends or one individual if it’s that kind of night.
