The Loons struggling to climb up the table

The MLS team Minnesota United F.C. currently stand in tenth place out of 11 teams in the Western Conference with five points. They have played seven games this season and have only earned five points from a possible 21.

Unfortunately, the season did not start the way many would hope for. They lost 5-1 to the Portland Timbers and 6-1 to the Atlanta United F.C. In each of these matches, the Loons netted both of their goals after conceding three goals. Their next game faced off against the Colorado Rapids, and they faired better in this match ending in a 2-2 draw. Kevin Molino scored a penalty shot and Christian Ramirez netted the second goal with a header from close range to the top-left corner of the net, assisted by Jerome Thiesson. It was difficult for the Loons, since Justin Davis was shown a red card on the 17th minute for a bad foul.

Their next match against the New England Revolution was not a one to remember, as they lost 5-2. Their match with Real Salt Lake was quite impressive, as they ended up winning their first game 4-2. Molino and Kevin Venegas netted a goal each, and Ramirez added two. Just as the Loons thought they could end their dreadful run and start a positive one, they faced a defeat against F.C. Dallas. Minnesota United was unable to score a goal, and ultimately fell 2-0. Their next game against the Houston Dynamo put them down 2-0 after 43 minutes, and they were able to stage a comeback. Ramirez and Vanegas scored in the 47th and 59th minute and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

As far as statistics go, Ramirez stands on top with five goals for the Loons. Molino is second highest with three, Vanegas has two and Kallman and Warner both have one score. Molino has the most assists (three) whereas Ibson, Thiesson, Ramirez and Vanegas have one each. Shuttleworth has played more games in net than Alvbage so far out of the two, and has a total of ten saves. The defense seems a bit wobbly due to being outscored 24-12 this season.

The Loons have a home record of 1-0-1 and an away record of 0-2-3. Their next three games are all home games against Colorado, San Jose and Kansas City. Having made a disappointing start to the season, Minnesota United still has enough time to get back on track for the remainder of the season.
