The Diversity Career Internship Fair prep workshop was an event organized by the Career Development Center specifically for students of color, held in the CSU this past Monday and Tuesday. The purpose of the workshop is to help students get ready for the fair coming, puttingtheir resume and cover letter in order and what to expect at the fair.

Jessica, who coordinated the event, said, “It is a collaboration between Institutional Diversity, the African American Affairs and their Pan-African Conference coming up soon. The workshop is to help students gets prepared for the Career Fair. The Career Fair which is coming up towards the end of the month has over 40 employers registered, more than last year. These are companiesthat are interested in representing a diverse environment and culture.”

These companies will be here to talk to students in terms of career and internship opportunities.

Jessica focused primarily on what it looks like to have a resume ready. She showed different videos on dressing attires and career fair information, and making sure the students have different copies of their resume printed out. Also, she emphasized that students come dressed in business casual outfits, and not jeans or leggings. Jessica further said that students should make sure to target every employer they are interested in talking to because there are going to be a lot of employers with a very short time frame. Afterwards, students were given time to ask any specific questions they had.

Jessica encouraged everyone to attend the Career Fair, which will be held Wednesday, Feb. 28 at the CSU Ball Room. She hopes student will attend and take advantage of the fair to network and connect with employers.
