2017BEST OF MANKATOSUPPLEMENTS

Jersey Mike’s takes the traditional sub to the next level

It’s starting to feel a lot like picnic weather outside with the recent heat wave we have been experiencing in Minnesota, and what better food to take along on fishing trips and those spontaneous romantic dates than fresh-cut subs?

Jersey Mike’s, located on Riverfront and Adam’s street in Mankato, is more than delighted to prepare your feast!

Jersey Mike’s was introduced to Mankato in 2011 and has repeatedly won “Best Of Mankato,” and for good reason. This sub shop is proud of its fresh ingredients, morale, and history. Walking into either location, it reminds you of its origins starting in 1956 in Point Pleasant New Jersey. Each location stays true to its history of only serving the best food available. Even though most haven’t been to the East Coast, the furnishing gives the right tone. There are photographs of sails, men enjoying the shore walking with their surf boards, and a sizable mural of a pinup-esque woman on a boat.

The choices can seem overwhelming at times, as there are a lot of options! The menu is displayed right above the meats and produce which show more than 20 subs. It features both hot and cold sandwiches. It can be as basic as a turkey and provolone sandwich or, if you’re feeling adventurous, more exotic options are available such as the Chipotle Cheesesteak (one of the best sellers). Each sandwich is also freshly sliced right in front of you and freshly frilled. Although subs can be customized to whatever you’d like to put on it, the best option for your cold subs is ‘Mike’s Way’. This is how they recommend for it to be topped to fully experience the East Coast taste. It’s topped with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, red wine vinegar, olive oil and spices.

The options are also incredibly flexible to fit special dietary needs. Any given sub on the menu can be turned into a wrap (priced the same as a regular) or a tub (a customized salad). Kid sized subs are also available that include a cookie and a drink. Sizes vary for the subs, too. Minis are available for cold subs at 5”, regulars at 7.5”, and a shareable size at 15”.

For those who are very indecisive, any newcomers can ask the inviting and amicable employees what those weird sounding meats are. If you are still wary or hesitant, they will reassure that you pick the best sub to suit your palate. One of Jersey Mike’s best characteristics is definitely the employees. They want you to experience your food. When you first step into the store, you will receive a warm welcome. They not only specialize in great food, but are great at bantering.

Jersey Mike’s origins also lie heavily in supporting the community and customer’s will have the opportunity to contribute to one of their local fundraisers next month.

“March is Month of Giving. And the Day of Giving will be March 29 with all sales going to LEEP. Jersey Mike’s foundation is built on giving to the community. We do over 8 fundraisers a year for local non profit groups,” said Chris Kunst, Operating Partner.

Jersey Mike’s is open from Monday to Sunday and open their doors at 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
