Volleyball to close season against Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston

The Mavericks volleyball team will be wrapping up their regular season this weekend when they take on the Bemidji State Beavers and Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles.

Although the team has won only one of the past five games and has been recently struggling to keep the ball in play, the Mavericks might have a chance at ending their 2019 season with two more wins.

On Friday, MSU will host the Beavers. The Mavericks have won nine of the last 10 games, including a winning streak of five games. The longest winning streak the Mavericks have had against the Beavers was 15, which lasted from Sept. 27, 1998-Oct. 4, 2014. If fans thought that the Mavericks have been struggling this season, it doesn’t compare to the Beavers’ record, which is 7-19. If the Mavericks aren’t overly confident and put the ball into play, it should lead to a Maverick victory.

Saturday’s game against the Golden Eagles also looks promising for the Mavericks. Looking at the history between the two teams, seven of the last 10 matchups have resulted in a Maverick win. The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 4-22, winning against University of Wisconsin-Parkside, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, University of Mary, and Minot State University.

MSU must focus on their plays both on defense and offense if they want to end the regular season strongly with two more wins.
